IMPROVING SOFT TISSUE ESTHETICS AROUND CROWNS ON NATURAL TEETH AND IMPLANTS.

HOW TO PREVENT PERI-MUCOSITIS AND PERI-IMPLANTITIS AROUND CROWNS ON IMPLANTS.

SYNOPSIS

The cervical contour of crowns placed on natural teeth and implants can have a profound effect on the soft tissue form and position. This presentation will describe the S-shaped cervical contour that can promote incisal migration of the mucosa around crowns on natural teeth and implants, thereby improving the esthetic result. The second part of the presentation will focus on the causes of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis around crowns on implants and how to minimize or prevent these biologic complications that can result in implant loss.

This Presentation will include the following key topics:

  • Identification of the cervical contour characteristics that promote soft tissue health and improve the esthetic position of the soft tissue
  • Present the causes of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis
  • Describe and illustrate the crown design factors that can aid in preventing peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis
