Dental Team Delegation Rule Making Process – The Indiana State Board of Dentistry (ISBD) continues to struggle with finalizing the rule adoption process that would allow properly educated hygienists to administer local anesthetics and assistants to perform coronal polishing and administer fluoride. There appears to be agreement on intent; but developing language that properly addresses all of the legal nuances has proved frustratingly slow. We are hopeful that the public hearing process will begin in the spring. In the meantime, be reminded that the old delegation standards remain in place until the rule changes are formally approved.
